How do I sign up?

It is easy to become a Tappl member by signing up with your LinkedIn account or Facebook account.

What do you mean by “anonymous”?

All reviews are anonymous to other users (including the person who is the subject of the review). Your email address, LinkedIn profile, Facebook profile or any other personal information is never displayed with any of your reviews.

Will anyone be able to see that I’m using Tappl?

We will never post to your LinkedIn or Facebook any information about you or identifying you without your permission.  We will never display, in relation to any of the reviews that you complete on Tappl, any data that would identify you as the reviewer.

How do I know a profile is legitimate?

Members can only sign up to Tappl via a valid LinkedIn or Facebook account, and can only review people with whom they share a common declared employment history.  Our Terms of Use – with which our members must comply – also prohibit the posting of reviews that do not satisfy these criteria.  This authentication framework is reinforced by Tappl’s algorithms which actively seek out aberrant, fraudulent or dishonest reviews.

If you submit a review of a person whose employment history does not indicate a shared employer, your review is captured but not published to the community until (or unless) a shared employment relationship can be established.

How do I get a review removed or a profile corrected?

The opinions expressed in reviews are those of Tappl members and not of Tappl. We will not alter, delete or filter genuine reviews submitted by Tapplers. We will, however, remove reviews that we have reason to believe are not genuine, based on improper incentives or are aimed at manipulating Tappl profiles.

If you see a review that you feel is inconsistent with our Terms of Use (it’s not enough to just disagree with it), please Contact Us. Please include information as to why you believe the content should be removed.  Please refer to our Terms of Use for information about what information may qualify for removal.

How are TAPPL profiles calculated?

Our Tappl profiles are calculated using a proprietary ratings algorithm, taking into account all reviews, and the metadata associate with them.  Ratings are determined based on structured feedback from both current and former co-workers. To ensure data integrity and to prevent manipulation, Tappl does not discuss the details of our proprietary algorithms.

Ratings on Tappl are based on a 0-100% scale measuring a person’s perception of their co-worker’s capabilities and performance on 12 specific attributes, plus an overall recommendation rating. Tappl types are determined by reference to relative strengths and weaknesses.

How do I edit or remove reviews I have completed?

To edit or remove previous reviews you have submitted, simply sign-in, view the profile of the person whose profile you wish to update, make the necessary changes to your review, and submit your changes.  The person’s profile will be updated with your revised review (which will replace your previous review).

In order to protect against the risk of improper incentives or manipulation, the removal of a review is not permitted.

Why can’t I find my review on the site?

Remember that your review of a person will never be displayed to anyone, including the reviewee. Rather, the scores incorporated in your review will affect the overall Tappl profile of that person. To maintain data quality and ensure that reviews comply with our Guidelines and Terms of Use, we assess reviews through a combination of automated algorithms and filters.

If you believe that your review is not incorporated in a person’s profile, it may mean that it was removed for reasons of non-compliance with our Guidelines and Terms of Use.

If you believe that content has been removed in error or in a manner that you feel is inconsistent with our Guidelines and Terms of Use (it’s not enough to just disagree with it), please Contact us.  Please include information as to why you believe the content should not be removed.  Please refer to our Guidelines and Terms of Use for information about what information may qualify for removal and inclusion.

Why did I lose access after signing in with LinkedIn or Facebook?

If you lost your access after signing in with LinkedIn, Facebook or other Social Media Platform, it’s likely that your Social Media Platform account may not have been linked correctly to your Tappl account. To make sure it’s linked correctly, first check whether you still have access to your Social Media Platform account.  If not, you will need to re-authorize your account settings.  Next time, you can simply login using your Social Media Platform account and your access should be restored.

How is Tappl different from a traditional 360 degree review?

A Tappl profile is not intended to serve as a detailed 360 review.  A Tappl profile should be used as an incremental dataset.  Traditional 360 degree reviews are significantly more detailed, but tend to be periodic, administratively heavy, and are constrained in terms of the number and diversity of reviewers.

A Tappl profile is less detailed, but is not constrained in terms of the number or diversity of people contributing a relevant assessment.  Furthermore, Tappl is updated in real time, reflecting the evolving observations of colleagues in the workplace.

Why can’t I find my colleagues?

The Tappl database of profiles is growing all the time.  If you can’t find your colleagues in your Newsfeed, you can search for them by “pulling down” the Newsfeed and using the search field at the top of your screen. If you can’t find them using the search function, please Contact Us and we will do our best to prioritize profiles for the companies for which you work.

In which territories does Tappl work?

Tappl is focused on the United States and Australia.  A small number of profiles for people working in other regions might be available, but our roll out strategy beyond the U.S. and Australia is not yet determined.

Why won’t Tappl remove a review that is not correct?

Generally speaking, a review is valid from the perspective of one person’s personal experience and understanding of another person with whom they have worked.

Each Tappl review contains the author’s own subjective opinions based on that individual’s personal experience of working with a person. When members accept our Terms of Use (section 5) by submitting reviews, they represent to us that they will only post accurate content.  Our Terms of Use (section 5) makes clear that the user alone is responsible for what they post.

Tappl reserves the right to withdraw, delete or not display a review at any time for any reason.

How do you verify the information is really from employees?

We endeavor to make sure that only people who work together can review each other.

Users must certify their employment relationship to a colleague when they complete reviews. We also require all users to validate their LinkedIn or Facebook identity before their reviews are made available to the community. This authentication framework is further reinforced by Tappl’s algorithms which actively seek out aberrant, fraudulent or dishonest reviews.

A review is not incorporated in a published profile where the employment history of the reviewer and the reviewee do not indicate a shared employer organisation.  In some cases, such reviews are later made active where a shared employment relationship can be established.

We will terminate the membership of anyone who lies about the employment record in their profile.  Such termination will prevent the member from reviewing other people, but other members will continue to have the ability to review that former member.

Does Tappl remove negative reviews for people who buy its services or who are otherwise associated with Tappl?

No. We apply the same standard of review for all content (whether or not the content concerns a client, employee, shareholder or partner of Tappl). This policy is critical to the integrity of the Tappl community.
